27th annual Bowl for Kids’ Sake Results!
Posted on February 15th, 2009 No commentsWe are pleased to report that the 2008 Bowl For Kids’ Sake was our most successful to date! We could not have accomplished this without the efforts and contributions of over 1,600 bowlers, 8 corporate sponsors, and 42 series and lane sponsors. The total amount of money raised was over $220,000! Almost 96% of the money raised will go directly to the Big Brother Big Sister programs that help children in our community!
We would like to recognize our top 3 bowlers who collectively raised $28,500!!! They are in order of most raised: Martha Albertson (Summit School), Brett Hoge (Wachovia), and Janet Boyst (Wachovia). The highest team total (they raised almost $11,200) went to Janet Boyst, Josie King, Devon Marsh, Jeff Scott and Melinda Watkins of Wachovia. The Early Bird winner (all bowlers who brought in money the day of the event were eligible for drawing) was Carl Hearn, of Surratt & Thompson, PLLC. The top five companies whose bowling teams raised the most money are: 1. Wachovia, 2. RJ Reynolds, 3. Pepsi, 4. BB & T and 5. Novant. There were two companies with significant increases from the previous year. Wachovia had an increase of $13,000 – 93% over what they raised last year. Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center more than doubled their participation with 15 new teams and had a 120% increase in amount raised. We would also like to recognize some new companies that joined us this year that had great turnout from their employees. They are Comerford & Britt, Leonard Ryden Burr and Cigna Healthcare. Thank you all!!!
The biggest fundraising event of the year for Big Brothers Big Sisters is Bowl for Kids’ Sake, our annual bowl-a-thon. It is a fun event and helps the agency continue to provide mentors for children. To learn more about the effect one-to-one mentoring can have, watch our BFKS Video NOW!
