  • Get Involved

Big Brothers Big Sisters operates with the support of volunteers and funding for our services. Here are the many ways you could help support Big Brothers Big Sisters and be a part of the magic.

    Recruitment of Volunteers

    • Allow a Big Brothers Big Sisters staff member to speak to your group about volunteering.
    • Put an article about Big Brother Big Sisters in your company, church, or civic club newsletter.

    Discount List and Free Tickets

Discounts or tickets to area restaurants, movie theaters, local sporting events, plays, and more give all our youth new opportunities.

    Match Activities and Parties

Recreational, educational, and cultural outings are planned for Big Brothers Big Sisters matches and families. Many of these events are free of charge to the volunteers and children.

    Waiting List Activities

These activities provide children with fun experiences while they wait to be matched and keeps them invested in the program. Participation in a Waiting List activity provides adults from the community with an opportunity to experience how great our kids are and what being a Big is like.

    Scholarship Fund

Two of our Bigs started this fund to assist our current and former Little Brothers and Sisters with the cost of their post-secondary undergraduate education. With each monetary donation, more of our Little Brothers and Sisters can take advantage of the financial assistance that is available.

    Donations and Sponsorships

Funds and gifts donated to the children in our program help them to take advantage of several opportunities that may otherwise be unavailable to them. With gifts and funds that are donated, we are able to help families during the Holidays. Many of the children are also able to take advantage of summer camps, school activities, and other recreational/educational activities during and after the school year.

    Bowl for Kid’s Sake

    • Ask your company to be a signature, corporate, series, or lane sponsor. For each level of contribution, the sponsor’s name is printed on 2,000+ T shirts and pledge sheets. A company banner or sign is displayed at the bowling alley the day of the event along with acknowledgement in the agency newsletter.
    • Be a team captain. Get your friends or coworkers together and bowl in next year’s Bowl for Kid’s Sake. Each bowler gets a pledge sheet and collects pledges. Your individual goal is to raise at least $80.

    Big For a Day

For one day you or a group from you business could mentor a child from our agency’s waiting list. You would take the child on a tour of your business and describe what you do on a daily basis. This gives our waiting list kids exposure to future career opportunities as well as demonstrating the joys of having a Big Brother or Big Sister.
