Will
you come in 2008?
These are the different ways a person or team can participate:
- Ask
your company to be a Corporate sponsor.
For a $2,500 contribution, the sponsors name is printed on the pledge
sheets, which are distributed to almost 1,500 bowlers. The corporate sponsors
are also listed in the Bowl for Kids Sake press releases, which are sent to
a media list of over 25, including television, radio and print media. The sponsors may also display their company
sign or banner at the bowling alley on the day of the event. In addition,
the sponsors names and logos are printed on tee shirts, which are given to each
of the 1,500 bowlers as a thank you gift. Corporate sponsor logos are
also included in our spring newsletter which reaches over 2,000 agency
volunteers and supporters.
- Be a Series sponsor.
A
Series sponsor is a donation of $500-$2499. This sponsorship includes a display
table at the event with materials/products for distribution; company name
displayed on a lane at the event; company name printed on bowlers pledge
forms; company name and logo in agency newsletter (spring issue).
- Ask
your place of employment to be a Lane sponsor.
A Lane sponsor gives a donation of $250. This sponsorship includes company name
displayed on a lane at the event; company name on bowlers pledge forms;
company name in agency newsletter (spring issue).
- Become a Coordinator.
As a coordinator you will be responsible for identifying and recruiting team
captains. You will ensure that team captains identify bowlers as well as make
lane reservations by calling BBBS. You are responsible for verifying that
team captains collect all pledges. Most importantly you are the encouragement
and support within your company or organization.
- Be
a Team Captain.
Get your friends or coworkers together and bowl in next year's Bowl for Kids'
Sake. Each bowler gets a pledge sheet and collects pledges. The goal is for
each bowler to raise at least $80 in pledges. A grand prize will be awarded
to the bowler who collects the most in pledges.
- Be
a bowler.
Encourage everyone you know to pledge support for your game. You can collect the pledges
either before or after the event. The goal is for each bowler to collect at
least $80 in pledges. All bowlers receive a free T-shirt and other prizes.
A grand prize will be awarded to the bowler who collects the most in pledges.

26th annual Bowl for
Kids' Sake Results!
We are
pleased to report that the 2007 Bowl For Kids’ Sake was our most successful
yet!! We could not have accomplished this without the efforts and contributions
of almost 1,500 bowlers, 9 corporate sponsors, and 36 series and lane sponsors.
The total amount of money raised was over $200,000! We are proud to report that
almost 96% of the money raised will go directly to the Big Brother Big Sister
programs that help children in our community!!!
We would
like to recognize our top 3 bowlers who collectively raised over $20,000!!! They
are in order of most raised: Martha Albertson (Summit School), Brett Hoge
(Wachovia), and Shawn Norris (BB&T). The highest team total (they raised almost
$10,000) went to Yucel Yalvac, Mary Ausborne (captain), Melanie Dawkins, Craig
Demarest and Shellie Veschio from RJ Reynolds. The Early Bird winner (all
bowlers who brought in money the day of the event were eligible for drawing) was
Damien Massey, of BB&T. The top five companies whose bowling teams raised the
most money are: 1. RJ Reynolds, 2. Wachovia, tied for 3. BB&T and Pepsi, and 5.
HanesBrands. The company with the largest increase from the previous year was
Novant with an increase of $8000 for a 134% over what they raised last year. We
would also like to recognize some new companies that joined us this year that
had great turnout from their employees. They are Allen Tate Reality, Surratt &
Thompson, and Dell, Inc. Thank you all!!!
The biggest fundraising
event of the year for Big Brothers Big Sisters is Bowl for Kids' Sake,
our annual bowl-a-thon. It is a fun event and helps the agency continue
to provide mentors for children.
